They're not bad, but the first 5 songs on Bedlam are some of their best. It would make the album way easier to listen to, plus Conjugal Burns is the sex

see repost...with octahedron, i appreciate it for them being quiet and focusing on wonderful vocal melodies (With Twilight as My Guide is unbelievable) and guitar diddling...they needed something quite after bedlam, and id like to see a nice merging of the two styles on what they do next...

Lol nope. Always said Octahedron. I totally agree with you about Bedlam. The album's a monster and easily one of their greatest works. It's the absolute fucking best thing you could ever listen to while playing Ninja Gaiden: Black.

Jon theodore, the man who threw up after laying down specifically hard parts on amputechture...he was awesome but it's really all omar, plus i think thomas held the sticks perty well (i mean i think he hit the drum kit a billion plus times on bedlam)...and one day as a lion was super cool, meaning jon theodore can still be heard even though he can't be heard in his perfect element...side question, has theodore done any other notable work?

Not really

As much as I love Thomas (I'm a drummer and the songs on Bedlam are so much fun to play), Jon just fit with the band so much more

Their drummers all bring something unique to the table. Deantoni Parks is going to light it up- he's probably got the most flexibility out of any drummer so far, but willfellmarsy is completely right...it's all Omar.

thomas was a beast at playing a more showy style, so omar utilized it, just as he did with theodore playing a quieter style...though i'm sure each member puts in some ideas/has to say no to things they can't do, omar's been described as a "little Hitler" and such when it comes to recording/members don't hear what anyone else in the band does...that only really works if someone has a big picture in mind...

yea, next album's supposed to be more group focused...prob won't be as good/they'll go back to omar in controlmar...to be honest if all of omar's work had cedric on it, most of omar's work would probably be 4+ stuff...he just needs that one different voice, laying down vocal melodies on all the craziness and it usually works well (even si dice bufalo, non bisonte strives mainly due to cedric providing work on the three best tracks)

I'm actually thinking their next album will be fucking amazing BECAUSE he's letting the other musicians write some stuff.

i mean it's pretty clear on this they're sticking with a more straightforward and traditional
(as traditional as prog really gets) approach with a somewhat present verse/chorus/verse/bridge
structure, obvi playing around with it

yea on this one they put some effort into their songwriting and tempering their usual prog wank
excesses so it was actually good

with the rest of their albums, tracks are more expansive and, imo, take you to more
places

places where everyone sucks ass

yea, no effort is put into the song writing of any part of frances the mute, the ambience is just there to increase track length...as i said, if this is your favorite tmv album you shud prob just gtfo...
