"Concerning TLF, I found it incredibly boring at first, probably because I expected a new Antidotes. Then, it grew on me and ended up being one of my favorite indie records ever. I can understand it's not everyone's cup of tea though."

I'm having a hard time getting into this, it's not nearly as interesting as their last two albums.

Post-Antidotes Foals tread a fine line between boring and not boring, and that's coming from a big fan (they definitely still have their highlights though)

I honestly haven't seen any progression from this band since TLF, these pasts few albums have really only had a couple of good songs.

I'll give them props for remaining consistent though.

Has anyone else noticed that London Thunder and Late Night are pretty much the same song?

And I agree that Foals teeter on the edge of boring and amazing. The first half of Total Life Forever is amazing but the second completely slips away from me.

One weak point of this album for me is that where this band used to take songs really interesting places (Black Gold is a good example), now they just either make them get louder or more overdriven. I think old Foals would have killed the ending of "Mountain at My Gates."

I imagine this album sounding sweet live, but it's somewhat bland in comparison to previous works.

He has a problem with their kinda soft and melancholic side that they've introduced with TLF, so it's not surprising that he didn't like most of Holy Fire and this.

I agree on some of his points though. Give It All, Albatross, Night Swimmers and London Thunder are nice but not really memorable to me. Fuck him for telling that A Knife In The Ocean sounds like a Coldplay song though.

we just got this in at the radio station i'm the music director for, definitely jams hard. I dig the straightforwardness/simplicity of it.

Everything is wrong nowadays because it has fuck all passion and integrity. This has it though, it's good.
