lmao til part of why this sounds like absolute dogshit is bc they for whatever reason chose to track and mix guitars before the drums, and the band for whatever reason were trying to be all hands on with the mix bc they wanted the album to sound like tool even tho they had no experience doing so lmao

Damn this is insanely mid, has some elements of what makes the later material so good, but most songs are often bogged down by cliche chorus after another and non are particularly note worthy

Love the catchy post-djent this offers. Mix could do with some juiciness though, it sounds quite thin.
Saying this is the worst production job in all of mainstream metalcore is FUCKING MENTAL though

Listen to The Haunted or the first release of Unconditional by Memphis May Fire, they sound so much worse than this sounds...

Two tracks are already out. Judge for yourself. I think they’re great

New mix is not bad at all, although a bit basic for the genre. Glad it isn't overly compressed, and cool to hear an actual re-recording with new vocals. Sad that the ambient effects are quite low in the mix, that is actually a part of this record I really enjoyed. Mix seems made for a record that is focussed on heaviness where I did not feel like Node was in the first place, so curious about the rest of the tracks. I expect that I will be enjoying the re-recording more.

Node was always one of my favorite Northlane albums. I'm excited to hear the whole thing with a modern mix and fresh vocals from a much more confident Marcus.

Welp, the lack of atmosphere is really obvious on Soma. Yikes, not a fan. It sounds super empty, the bass is also way too low, and the snare and vocals too loud, or just overtuned midwise. But production like this works a lot better on the heavy tracks like Obelisk. Annoying rerecording to be honest haha
