"the vocals are so bland"

Most people seem to agree that Jake has a pretty distinct and varied vocal performance. Not sure what you classify as good vocals, but as far as this kind of music goes he's one of the more well liked vocalists.

"bring much, if at all anything, new to the table"

Not everything has to be new to be good. I've never really understood this argument. Yes people get overhyped and say nonsense like "they reinvented the genre!" but even if that isn't true, their spin on what this kind of Metalcore has to offer is well done. If you don't agree that's fine, but they are one of the most popular bands in the genre for a reason. If you think it's awful then this kind of music in general probably isn't really your thing.

Funny enough, in Rescue & Restore they went all out saying how metalcore had become 'stale'. Uh.

This is truly average, six discs in I think I've got enough of the ABR formula. Time for a change bros

No, music doesn't have to be unique or groundbreaking to be good. But what is the likelihood that people who don't like the style itself will change their minds about it without a radical change? Not likely. I don't like metalcore. I listen every once in a while when people say a band is taking things to the next level. Maybe the playing gets faster. I still find most of the guitar playing too flashy without any hooks, and coupled with the same old screams the music becomes very hard to differentiate from other metalcore. I heard a few more tasteful melodic bits, and the experimentation like switching gears to mexican polka were fun though ultimately gimmicky.

This sounded like standard ABR on my first listen. Didn't see the hype, but i'll have to listen to it more

ABR are like the AC/DC of metalcore tbh, they are pretty good, but always the same. Not sure if i will jam this, but it's prob decent.

I thought he was the highlight of that song. Granted it's not the best on here.

Definitely similar to AC/DC in having a similar tone throughout all of their work

Instrumentation is miles more interesting to listen to though.

Another thing is that AC/DC are stuck in the 70s
