if I listen to something and I don't like it because I don't like that kind of music I just don't bother even rating it.
I don't have enough competence to give a true assessment of the disc and it would be just a dick move to rate it 2 and disrespect artists, users and reviewers
and this disc is neither objectively poor nor average. You may not like it but again, who does this stuff other than these guys?

you can think of reasons why you think it sucks, I'm sure. it's not like everyone who rated it a 4 or higher had a great "reason"
this is part of why sputnik's ratings are always so bloated. everyone afraid to give honest ratings to albums they dislike
and how is it disrespectful to give a poor rating? it's possible to dislike an album but still be respectful

well, I remember a dude that came to a thread and asked why he couldn't give a 1 to a Dream Theater disc. When asked for motivation he went with something like "it's cheesy and I hate them". I mean what do you have to discuss with someone that goes like that? If I say "it sucks because A, B, C.." at least you have a conversation

Ratings can be a combination of how you feel about an album and an objective assessment. But I've never understood people rating an album after one listen. No matter how simple it is, it can't be possible to be able to digest an album after just one listen. But whatever floats their boat I guess.
