Fun part is that the guitar really was a flamethrower, while being an actual guitar as well. At first it was only a flamethrower but Miller was having none of that and made them redesign it to be the 130lb monster that you saw in the film.

Just goes to show that Miller really is an 80s director. He uses REAL props rather than a bunch of CGI shit. A dying breed of directors right there.

Which is just plain cool, especially in a movie like this I feel like having real vehicles and the like really helped bring everything together and added heft even if some people might not have picked up on it.

My mam and dad hated this movie..... I couldn't fathom the hate.

I don't know, the current overload of blurry CGI fests has definitely lead to a counter-movement to that. Lots of buzz about the new Star Wars is exactly about the large amount of practical effects they're using.
Of course Miller just does it because it's the way he does it.

^ eh, point taken. But when it comes to almost everything, there are few directors that use practical effects for almost everything.
"My mam and dad hated this movie..... I couldn't fathom the hate."
It's okay, they just don't understand the beauty of movies like these and they most likely never will. It's probably too late to save them.

Chomping for a new film. This was one of the best action film I'd seen for years. So refreshing.

Absolutely, it’s so ridiculously good for how simple it actually is.
Major credit to Miller for such an ingenious pursuit of such a basic concept.
“I want to make a new Mad Max.”
“Okay George, what about?”
“A car chase.”
“...and?”
“No, that’s it. Just a 2 hour car chase.”
“...”
“That’ll be $150 million please.”

This the movie that was pro women and people were getting pissed off?

The bit that makes me laugh is when people say "it's Mad Max and he hardly does anything!"
Think people miss the point that Mad Max has always been a vessel character to elevate and tell other character's stories.

Yeah that was what gave the women in the move the spotlight and it got people upset. I saw the movie in the theaters and I literally saw men pissed off after the movie finished lol

Max is what Furiosa ultimately needs to succeed in her plan, and had Furiosa not gone ahead with her plan in the first place Max would have probably just ended up being another dead bloodbag.
They need each other, that’s the point.
