Also, I feel like the vocals and the lyrical styles are so different that even if musically there's some similarity, it doesn't mean much.

I hear a similarity in "timothy" as well. I think it has more to do with the production than anything else. The reverb on the vocal maybe.

You may be right, I just don't hear much connection between the two.

Seeing him tomorrow for the second time. Should be fun, especially since he was incredible the first time back in 2013.

That's awesome. I've always wanted to see him live, haven't had the chance yet though.

his performance on conan the other day was great. he's at the top of my list of want to sees. the other is father john misty and i just secured tickets for one of his shows this fall.

i still think this album rules.

I'm going to be really annoying here and tell you that I'm seeing both at the Roskilde Festival in 1½ month. But cool you got ticks for FJM's own show!

"the war on drugs-ification must be stopped"

But besides Sagres, very little of this actually sounds like TWOD. This is just standard Tallest Man stuff with more instrumental contributions.

Yeah it's really just Darkness and Sagres that sound much different to anything he's done before albeit for a layer of shinyness. I'm not sure why everyone is losing their heads

Deserves a 4 for sure. Also, his live performance was excellent. Some of the new arrangements of old material were fantastic.

Sounds great. What were some of the songs re-arranged?

The Wild Hunt had the full backing band, and The Wheel had some gorgeous vocal harmonies added in.

Interesting. Glad to hear The Wild Hunt sounded great like that, it seems like it would be difficult to pull that off well.

Just heard a few tracks from his earlier albums and holy fuck how bad his vocals were. His voice is so much better on this album

tbh i prefer his vocals on "The Wild Hunt" and on this to his vocals on "There's no Leaving now"
