Yeah I'm fine with Trans, Plans, and Stairs (Stairs I actually prefer to We Have the Facts), but their last couple albums show that they've pretty much lost it.

Agreed with The Photo Album having some of their best tracks, and I think it's perhaps their most consistent album. Styrofoam Plates is beautiful. I think I prefer Codes & Keys to Kintsugi, though. And I wonder if they every play anything from Something About Airplanes, Bend to Squares is so sweet.

Transatlanticism will always be their most consistent album for me, that is just a true masterpiece, and recently I've come to think Photo Album isn't that far behind, but aside from those two albums and to a lesser extent Narrow Stairs, Death Cab are just kind of your average good to great band.

Although the Postal Service album also deserves credit as another exceptional work in Ben Gibbard's oeuvre.

Their debut is pretty weak, not much better than this tbh. I haven't heard their demo but I assume it's of similar quality.

Yeah, I agree, and don't bother with the demo. But Bend to Squares and a couple other songs are still great.

I really liked The Ghost of Beverly Drive.
Will I enjoy the rest of the album?
Haven't listened to these guys in years.

I think you will. This is a decent album that sometimes gets boring, but has several brilliant songs like No Room or You've Haunted Me.

Bumping it now. Pretty good so far.
Something about the guitar and the chorus for The Ghosts of Beverly Drive really hooked me.

Black Sun owns hard. I've only listened to the rest once or twice and not much stuck out to me. Mostly like Narrow Stairs and Transatlanticism, though.

Awful, awful concept, but Death Cab released a new song that's quite good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE0nOfTA3pY
Once again, I think it's a terrible concept, a terrible video, and kind of cringe-worthy lyrical content. To be honest, I can't tell if it's supposed to be comedic or not. I hope so, I like the song otherwise. As you can tell, though, I'm conflicted, context is hard to ignore.

why do bands make political music at all
the sad thing is, the song instrumentally is pretty damn good compared to anything off this album, but christ, MILLION DOLLAR LOAN. talk about a bullet straight to death cabs head
