yeah the problem wasnt that they went shoegaze for me it was just that their sound was so bland and middle of the road

i liked this change, they were never really at the top of their scene anyway nor did i think they had the potential

i just hope they wouldn't mess with the genres too much anymore and would try to find their own sound

Swirling through a tunnel view

Tangled in the dark

Flirting with a kiss of death

A canopy of stars

You'll sleep beneath them

I'm in your room

I am your nightmare

I am the moon

never understood why turnover went gaze and kinda blew up, while this got mixed reception at best

i don't love either, but this is miles better than turnover imo

I mean turnover is dream pop lite at best, but I've still seen plenty of people try an lump em in into the gaze genre

really my main point is how both bands changed their sound, and how different the reception went

honestly it might have something to do with this album dropping around the time that people in the DPPG were entering a new stage of maturity and needed a new path to follow--turnover were changing their sound for the better and it REALLY shows, bands like moose blood (rip), trophy eyes, and even fucking neck deep were latching on to this softcore dreamy indie pop sound that turnover incorporated on PV

title fight had long abandoned their pop punk sound so everybody in that scene were already used to them being an outlier, and i don't think that the gaze sound sat well with them at all
