can't say i'm not guilty -- I went through it once and gave it a 2.5 (which I bumped cause it's growing on me specially after that new track). not a bad album at all, really cool in some parts too. Probably even cooler once I "get it"

it's definitely not a 1.5, not even on a somewhat baffling first listen. it's probably like a 3.5 but I haven't got there yet. some tracks are amazing as shit tho

the very first time I flat out turned it off after the first track, then i gave it a fairly middling score after listening to the whole thing, and now it's grown on me a fair bit

hard. one of the most annoying things about this site is how influential staff are on people's opinions. dunno if thats praise for the promoted reviewers or criticism of the users... maybe it's both.

eh, being influenced by opinions is human nature dude. no shame in reading a convincing review and having an impression of an album...it happens. we got limited time on this earth to listen to all the dirtiest riffs so you gotta pick and choose your listens wisely man

As I stated before, the bandwagon is a powerful thing and it is especially effective on individuals not fully confident in their own credibility. Its honestly sad since it takes a huge hit on the variance of opinion and the possibility of constructive criticism and debate. Hell, I will admit I was guilty of this for my first couple of months on Sput.
To just tie things up before going on a tangent, the only critic one should really give a shit about is themselves.

speaking for myself, I've heard that one song before I've seen anything about it on here, and hated it. not that it matters or anything, since I've never even rated this, but yea.. js. srsly tho the bandwagoning on this site is real and so fucking annoying most of the times. shit, sometimes people even say they won't bother checking the album out because a staff reviewer or their buddy gave it a 2.5 or something. fuck that.

I heard the preview track before I ever read a review here, and thought it was awful. The rest of the album was actually better, but still not fantastic. My opinion of the album has gotten better over time, but it's still not that great.

True but doesn't that take a hit on the purpose of exploring music in the first place? Yeah you could say the contrib and staff opinions may separate the mud from the gold, but if that is the status quo of Sputnik, then the whole concept of user participation seems pretty moot.

People should take the reviewer's opinion into consideration but still approach the album with an open mind. I would hope that people wouldn't be as weak-minded as to let one negative opinion influence them just because of a contrib or staff tag next to their internet username.
