I have only explored the second disc halfway, but it's so vastly different from the first in my opinion that it's hard to compare the two. What I've heard so far is an album that is more like a story set to music than an album of songs, and I kind of really like that, because it gives it
more of an operatic feel (a space rock opera?).
I can say this about the first disc, though--after the first listen, I enjoy 'Epicloud' more (of course, I actually really liked that album). After the first couple of songs, the album kind of runs together a bit. The best thing about 'Addicted' is how interesting even the slower songs
were. "Numbered!" and "Supercrush!" were just massive, wall-of-sound tracks that invited you to sing along while your eardrums were being ripped apart. On 'Epicloud', you had "Angel" and (especially) "Grace." But there's not a lot of that on 'Sky Blue'; there are a greater number of
ballads, and most of them lack that skin-melting wall of sound. So many of the songs are in the vein of "Save Our Now," which I wasn't too big a fan of.
"Silent Militia" is the exception. It stuck out immediately, and is definitely my favorite track overall from the album so far.

That's what I was trying to say, they are two separate albums by two separate artists and they should be tagged that way

It doesn't matter, it was still released as one product, therefore it gets one entry here. However you wish to add it on your iTunes playlist or whatever is entirely up to you, but for a website that contains a musical library that doubles as a database for compiling ratings, it serves no purpose to split the album up. Especially when all you'll do is create confusion.
It doesn't really matter where the (one) entry ended up, but personally I feel like this should be on the solo DT page. It makes sense to have the two Ziltoids together, and naturally Devin is the one constant over the whole release.

or move it to a DT/DTP split page because this is essentially a collab between the two projects, though they share one member.

These two albums should totally have been released separately. Only Disc 2 has anything to do with Ziltoid at all anyway.
Sky Blue is better though

Nah, otherwise we'd have to do the same for 'Speakerboxx/The Love Below', which was two separate albums released in the same package by two different people who also happen to be part of a duo.

the production sounds just like epicloud and that's unfortunate. the sound of this record is just so...safe. not something
you'd expect from devin.

Sky Blue is 2.5-3.0 territory for me with a few really enjoyable songs. Dark Matters is a 4, although I doubt it will have a ton of replay value being that it's a musical.

Its too early to tell, but Sky Blue may be on par with Accelerated Evolution or even Terria.

Terria? are you jokingAugustus?

Terria is pretty much untouchable.

Agreed.

I think 'Accelerated Evolution' is miles ahead of 'Sky Blue', to be honest. I dunno what it is about SB, maybe I just need to listen to it more, but even though it seems very much in the vein of 'Addicted' and 'Epicloud', it's just...less.

Well we'll wait and see. I don't think it could get as good as Terria actually. Its easily a improvement from epicloud though

I'd be more eager to listen to this if it didn't have the Ziltoid association tagged on

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. Haven't heard a single song yet either so this will be a lot to digest.

It's painfully obvious that Dark Matters will be best served as a stage show - as I expect it will be for the Royal Albert Hall show. It would be cool if he did video version of it. The album is good and is helped with some imagination but I prefer 'Ziltoid The Omniscient'.

The Sky Blue album doesn't feature Ziltoid at all.

I much prefer Dark Matters over Sky Blue, personally.
