And yeah, so far I like Mare 's sound better than what's here.

On paper, this is something I'd love, but in reality, I just don't know what makes me dislike it

Doesn't seem like a solid evaluation of your rating then...

I still don't know why Mare Cognitum hasn't received the amount of attention this band has recently; they're easily just as good.

I have their bandcamp link bookmarked, but still haven't given them a go yet. however, if what you say is true then I really should be getting on that soon.

they're nowhere near as prog as this, though; they're like basic atmospheric bm with outer-spaciness. Newest album is their best I think.

then I'll still like it most likely, but possibly not as much as I enjoy this album. it's me proggy tendencies speaking.

I actually like Mare Cognitium a bit more than this tbh.

Check the split these guys did with Spectral Lore

An Extraconscious Lucidity is his best full-length, if you're going to listen to one of his LP's, you should listen to that one first.

God damn this rips.

Such a unique feeling to the entire album, somewhat ancient and otherworldly.

I could go on and on about this.

An Extraconscious Lucidity is his best full-length [2] though I haven't given their latest much listening time, I really should.

That said, I don't think either is nearly as good as this.

I like Mare better. It's more focused, he just kinda picks one mood, one feel and sticks to it. Haven't heard the new one yet but The Sea was great and Lucidity was excellent so he's trending upwards.

Yeah, Mare Cognitum is a bit more direct whereas this is a bit more abstract at times, but I can't say I like one more than the

other. Phobos was a little bit of a step back imo, but that would have been hard not to do considering how much I love Lucidity.

I dug that latest Mare album at first listen, but it's not quite as brilliant as this is. maybe I'll ease into it a tad more over time.

Indeed it is. Out of about 17 rock albums from this year, this one is my favorite, even topping Mastodon's latest release.
