Well, a lot of what I've read indicates both artistic differences regarding the direction of the band as well as his own age which was significantly greater than the rest of the band.

Dominici does a falsetto instead of LaBrie’s metal scream. Doesn’t sound flat unless you count the very end when the reverb is carrying it longer than he’s actually singing it
