idk how you can argue against the idea that at the very least the chord progressions resemble what you'd find in pop punk since it's all major key and uses distortion in a similar way

i'm not trying to make fun of this record by comparing it to that but i'm just saying how i hear it

i mean i admit i'm not really a listener of pop punk but the small amounts i have heard kind of sound similar

*shrugs* it's not really important anyway [:

I mean not that I can't see the obvious Wonder Years and Four Year Strong influence on tracks like Dream House and Sunbather

i don't really have "arguments against this album"

and i'm not sure a comparison to a genre is an argument against an album, that's kind of fucking dumb

I mean not that I can't see the obvious Wonder Years and Four Year Strong influence on tracks like Dream House and Sunbather

so we agree...? i mean that's all i was getting at, i wasn't saying it as a detriment to the album, just that's how it was

just as dumb as comparing this album to pop punk so whats your point? and of course it can be used as an argument against an album, if you dont fucking like honky-tonk and an album is largely influenced by honky-tonk you probably wont like it.

so we agree...? i mean that's all i was getting at, i wasn't saying it as a detriment to the album, just that's how it was

no because i was being extremely facetious.

Thats not the point, I'm hardly a big Deafheaven fan, its just that it was a completely baseless comparison

I'm pretty middle-of-the-road about this album and I think that was a stupid ass comment

lol who cares if it's baseless, if you can't hear it that's fine, just ignore it and move on. it's just what i hear and i'm not asking anyone to agree with me and i'm sure as hell not arguing it's a pop punk album, just that the melodies reminded me of it

overwhelmingly melodic major-key album reminds me of an overwhelmingly melodic major-key genre, wowee, what a crime. who cares if it's dumb, it's not a big deal, it was just an anecdotal comment, treat it like that

I dunno dude but you seem to be getting more worked up about it than anyone else here so why don't we just move on
