Only pretentious aspects are the sophomoric philosophical elements spread out throughout but the actual story when the scripts involved deals with the effects of death, father/son relationships, losing a father, modern "free information" society/culture too

exactly my point. Ambition isn't the problem with this album, rather the execution. The story as

told by the album without using the script is boring, dull and just not entertaining at all. The

main character is this overly emotional guy without any reason told to us, we just kind of accept

it.



It just kind of cuts through these five acts that don't make any logical sense. He sees a robbery/he

sees a shooting outside the nightclub and because he sees this he comes up with some reason to go to

Oakland to see, his girlfriend..., then his dad dies... and in all becomes a drug dealer who dies.

So this concept was supposed to say what, exactly

I remember when this album came out everyone on rapgenius were saying it was a classic and now about a week later no one talks about it

yeah I just saw it. he seemed pretty darn harsh and yet still gave it a positive score, hmm

a 5/10 is not positive

maybe he's grading on a curve

Well considering he outright said he didn't like it...

Uhhh considering he hated Camp a 5/10 is a pretty damned high rating from the man. and he said in the review that he was more apathetic about this more than anything-- not offensively bad, but just plain boring in some points

I like fantano and I'll agree him about 50% of the time. As a reviewer I respect him though. Like, I might disagree with his opinion, but he fleshes out his points enough to be like, "Okay, I see where you're coming from by saying this."

I have never seen any of his reviews for any Childish Gambino though i did knew he hated him or whatever

still saying i'm just a 5/10 isn't really a positive score, and even if it was by whatever standard you use the point is he still said he didn't like it (not dislike, just not like)
