This might be the most boring album of the year so far imo.

While it's probably the band's worst album, I think we all thought it would be worse. I know I did.

Seems about right. A7X gets a lot of hate and for a good bit of it, rightfully so. But you pinpoint the differentiations between each record and that's what keeps them an interesting band to keep up with for a few great tracks. I wonder if Syn can regain his ability to write more immediately recognizable songs such as Afterlife, Beast/Harlot, Bat Country, etc. This album lacks as many standout riffs as the previous few records.

Yeah tommy, as a fan of the band even I can't say the album is really worth listening to, unless you

have never heard neither Avenged Sevenfold nor Metallica before. It is all average/ok metal. All I can

say is that Doing Time is really fun and you can really feel the emotion in the beginning.

I agree, this is very average metal.

glad to see a mature, well-written review for a band that screams for ploy reviews. great job ins, have a pos. however, I can't see myself giving this a shot. too much music, too little time.

I can't tell if I'm more pissed because this album sucks and I enjoyed all their other albums, or because they'll probably break up after this and we'll never get another cheesy-but-catchy Afterlife or Beast and the Harlot.

I'm thinking the Rev was the source of all of their "good" moments given that the first album without him feels like they fell way off

Holy crap I just listened to the title track, it sounds like a bunch of 13 year olds jamming the first song they wrote. Definitely does NOT sound like a band 5 fucking albums under their belt. So fucking lame.

Also pos man, good review.

Lol... did these guys think they were like in the 70'/80's when they made this record or something? Sounds exactly like a record that could've been cool at that time, but nowadays it just sounds like uninspired shit and a complete rip off. Soooo boring and bland, jeeez.

Why can't they just do a City of Evil part 2? That album was amazing... for an Avenged Sevenfold record.
