Oh boy. You seriously can't think of any other context in which it might work?

This thread is incredible
Honestly, and I like this review a lot Irving, the only reason I looked at this review was bc of my anger at the summary, just bc Sputnik has had a lengthy problem with sexist rhetoric (from Chan's Kelly Clarkson review to that abhorrent Sowing blog post about mixtapes for girls, and probably something I wrote when I was staff at 16). I'm glad people are more willing to confront that here.
Also has anyone in tune to tumblr/pfork controversies and has heard about this Dead Girlfriends (formerly of Elite Gymnastics, 21st on my best of 2011 list) controversy? Since we're on this subject and all. Might write a blog post about it or a review of the EP the dude released.

Hey Cam.
I hope you had the chance to read into my explanation of the choice of summary about three or four pages back - it was a terrible oversight on my part, and I hope to not be so careless in the future. And you're right about Sputnik being particularly sexist/misogynistic, etc...in the case of that Sowing blogpost, I think the only direct confrontation we had was from Conrad, who typed out something about stereotyping in caps and then retreated. I'm honestly not the most enlightened of individuals, but if anyone would like to discuss gender issues and the like then I'm game (especially since it takes place in the aftermath of this review).
On that note - I'm actually completely unfamiliar with said controversy...care to share, Cam?
(That being said, do write the review - I'll have you know that the two pieces you covered this year are on my Top 20 Albums of the year and I'll bet 5 bucks on you batting three-for-three!)

In the words of John Hanson, "this video does not give two fucks dear god".
|
| |
But to be clear. It gives one fuck because it was unable to give two, right?

I'm of the opinion that the only people that should be allowed to post on sputnik should be able to hold a conversation like those within this thread.
Also, I've got to give this a listen.

Okay. 4.7 is seriously starting to seem too low. I kid not.

This is going to sound crazy but I'm hearing all sorts of things/influences/similarities/auditory dopplegangers from this. For some reason the main guitar riff on "Innocence is Kinky" started reminding me of the intro to U2's "The Fly".
Go on - laugh.

How does this compare to her first? Enjoy it more? Is it more accessible (relatively speaking haha)

@Irving on the Zola Jesus/Grimes/tUnE yArDs comparions? Yeah. With the exception of the heavily
reverbed vocals on "Oslo Oedipus" I don't see it.
Live show last week was great. Really crowded and humid in the tent - she took advantage of that and
made the vocal performance really sensual.
EDIT: Not to mention the kinky anecdotes tempting the audience.

Saw her last week as well. Although it was 1 am in a church which was sparsely crowded. Her voice is quite amazing live.

Well it's not like I heard all three of them on the album from start to finish right? They were flashes mostly, but familiar enough to make me want to name them as sounds I recognized.
