It's not that this is a bad album, but compared to the bands previous efforts they shit all over this.

The band has gone into their little safe corner and have just rewrote older albums they have put out

I had it at a 4.5 too but the more I listened the worse it got. I finally found a 3 was appropriate.

Wow, I thought you guys were being too hard on this, but after actually listening to the whole thing it's such a disappointment... Nothing terribly interesting going on musically, the "prequel" concept didn't work at all, the lyrics are repeated ad nauseam (most songs don't even make the storyline progress forward)... Where is the emotion we heard in Lost Ground? What the hell happened?

band needs to stop writing under this concept; definitely worked up to empty days & sleepless nights but i think a lotta people could tell even before this came out that that was where it needed to end

The story is incredible enough that stretching it up to "Letters Home" wasn't the worst decision, but it certainly shows how the story is a crutch. The vocals are certainly solid and there are a lot of damn catchy hooks but without the story this would be a fairly average record aside from a few tracks. They definitely fucked up come "Abandoned" however.

this album is pretty underrated on here. i really enjoy it. no clue what the hell happened on abandoned. i hope they can put out another good album.

I think there is a good justification for why it's rated so low. This band started off really strong with Travels, but just kept rehashing the same thing over and over again ad nauseam and by this album I was pretty over the shtick. Listened to a couple songs off Abandoned, and heard all I needed to hear. Travels and the Lost Ground EP are still really great

yea true, the concept def needs to go if they are to continue at all. tho somehow Coheed has managed to do it for twenty straight years, but i guess it's a little different.

butt.

They definitely need some new inspiration, but I would argue that half the songs here are fantastic. Bastards & Rabbit Foot are fucking great. Underrated album no doubt. I will also always argue that ED&SN was their best.
