Food for thought:

1. Nachash

2. We Are

3. Aeons

4. Eidolon

5. Sky Machine

6. The Last Few

7. Float

8. Alpha Omega

Maybe leave A.M. War, but I'm not a huge fan.

I don't mind Aum and Om as bookends tbh, but other than that yeah you've mostly shaved away the fat.

Am I the only one who really digs A.M.War and The Refusal? :

They kind of mess with the album's overall tone, imo. Who am I, though.

I understand where you are coming from, but that in itself is sort of the albums core concept of asymmetry.

ps. I couldn't stand A.M. War the first time I heard it, and now I find myself singing along to it.

I don't hate either of them, about half of The Refusal is fantastic and my dislike of AM War is probably more to do with my shitty quality rip than the song itself (Nacash similarly suffers). I don't really mind the title track either, although it's kinda stupid when you concentrate on it

"Out of interest SitarHero, was your initial reaction on the first listen very different from how you felt as you were getting ready to put your words on the page?"

Yup. Initially the only songs that made a positive impression were Aeons, Eidolon and (very surprisingly) The Refusal. But on repeated listens the others, particularly AM War and Alpha Omega, started growing on me massively. As of right now the only songs I don't LIKE are Nachash, Amusia and the instrumental/ambient pieces.

well first listen wasn't what I expected. I'll listen to it again and I hope will grow on me

dig the review, but

Initially getting their start in the late ‘90s as a grunge cover-band, the band shape-shifted rather effortlessly through a Nu Metal phase

why capitalize nu metal but not other genres?

"why capitalize nu metal but not other genres?"

Cos I like to be unpredictable like the band. It's all part of the plan, you see.

Thanks for the heads-up. Fixed it.

The title track makes me feel strange when I listen to it loudly; just this weird uneasiness... Wonder if that was the intention.

Considering its called "Asymmetry," I'm guessing that's the point.

If I wasn't a fan of Sound Awake, how likely is it that I'd dig this?

After 2 listens this is a 4 for me, but I think I will end up rating it a little higher after I hear it a few more times. "We Are", "Aeons", and "Sky Machine" grabbed me instantly.
