This album is fantastic, the production makes me long for Devin Townsend, however.

Production choices notwithstanding, this album is far from generic. The guitar work alone and melodic turns make each song easily identifiable, and the crescendos provide real emotionality. To me, this easily beats ABR's most recent, which plays out like a series of exercises.

And seriously, the drumming. I honestly can't remember even once raising my eyebrows to the percussion on any of their other albums, but here the guy is just going insane. The tom work on "Two Solitudes" and the rim and brush stuff on "Everything Will Rust" is just bad ass, and even though the rest of the production is a bit bland, the drums sound great.

"The tom work on "Two Solitudes"

Departure is a better choice IMO. Some Matt Halpern stuff going on there.

I remember I saw misery signals open for after the burial and veil of maya. My friend asked whomever the singing guitarist was what they sounded like, and if they were any good. He didn't really answer either question.

Me too. Might drop to a 3.5 not sure yet. It's a great album don't get me wrong but the guitars don't do it for me like they used to.
