I'm not liking those clean vocals that much, something about them annoys me. But instrumentally it has some great intense moments.
Don't know if I hate or love those riffs which are sometimes sounding like they're intentionally off-tune.

I actually prefer How This Will End on Dawning than on Falling Down IIV Compilation. It just took its time to grow on me.

Excellent review btw. Seems this band is about as underrated as Cult of Luna is overrated.

I don't necessarily agree with that statement but MotA gets too much hate and labelled as a mere cookie-cutter band while there are plenty of post-metal rip offs that receive unjust praise.

Well that might have come off worse than I meant it. Seems CoL is moderately overrated, and these guys moderately under. That's just my personal consensus though, most of sputnik would beat me senseless for saying such things lol.

Well I see your point, it makes no sense to me where the community enjoys band "a" but despises band "b" where band "b" is just as good, if not better. It seems more like people jump on the bandwagon, but then again it's just people's opinions.

I'm really confused with the lineup for MotA, since I met them (really nice guys) but they had different members that night from interviews and they said they like to swap members out to play in other projects then come back...makes me think how many there are. It's hard to find any information on these amazing bastards!

^ yea, and its a shame
CoL arent overrated at all, in fact they deserve all the praise they have and more, Salvation and SATH are amazing albums, each in its own way. what sucks is that MotA are always being compared to other PM bands when they honestly try to do something new and change their sound from album to album while maintaining the original quality (fanboy rant)
anyway, album rules.. listen to this or dei

Yeah, MoTA sound much more like doom to me, might be the feel I get from them more than the actual instrumentation or song structures. Really though, I think they have a pretty unique sound overall.
