The lack of dynamics is what makes this tiring for me as well.

i feel like there is enough texture change to keep me interested but i think the complaint is valid. there are certainly dynamics, but it's mostly either intense or quiet.

As terrible as your comment is above, I still chuckled a bit.

"The problem with this starts with the cover. It just screams "I'm-a-teenage-girl-who-uses-tumblr" in all it's pink eye scourging awfulness."

I actually agree with this to an extent lol

I feel this album is getting compared and rated to so many different genres that it is (by some) getting an unfair rating.

This album (and band for that matter) isn't just a black metal band, a shoegaze band, or just a post rock/metal band. It is everything and more than those. If your coming into this thinking its solely just a BM band, your going to be disappointed.

lol this is not a tumblr core album. Judah was a bit more faux kvlt ish. This is far more creative. I understand calling this faux kvlt but the tumblr comment is hysterical. There's so much creativity in some of the songwriting and chord progressions here they've really elevated themselves from a mediocre try-hard faux-hardcore/american bm band to something special with this

Cinaedus, I agree with you on the fact that it sucks that people are saying Deafheaven is the most influential and most important black metal band ever. I fully agree with that, ever heard of Burzum or Ulver?

But now, throw all the critics and overrated reviews away, and listen to the album for real. Sunbather is something great, amazing even, and it doesn't need to be the most influential BM album ever to be so.

lol their barely even black metal anymore, nor were they ever just a bm band. most influential bm band ever is a hysterical tag for this band, which is prolly pissing off a lot of kvlt hipsters. Regardless, this is an excellent record

People still overrating this album. Comment on top of the page is hilarious for all the wrong reasons though.

Yeah, completely different band, genre etc. not going to argue about it on this album thread and hijack it.

Album isn't kvlt enough.

album doesnt need to be kvlt enough, stfu riff v 2

its not strictly black metal, its more blackgaze/post-rock with screamo elements

u dont need to argue about anything Hollier, just be content with being wrong
