From the start I knew this album was going to be insanely horrific. And I was right the first lyrics are a sort of mumbled fuck. Then the confirmation came by the time I only got to Cowboy the third track. This album doesn't have much going for it. At times it can sound great, but generally about 15 of the 18 tracks are just bad songs that I would never pay for, nor wish to hear again.

I don't know if I entirely agree with your assertions about Tyler's fan base or what his songwriting represents. Considering a good half of this album is focused on bashing the bandwagon jumping fans left over from Goblin this seemed more like a return to form a la Bastard for Tyler, the Creator. And like Bastard, the album has a more than a handful amount of great songs, a few good, and a couple that fall between mediocre and bad (not sure where Trash Wang falls yet.) Tyler, the Creator seems less like a teenage angst's rap anthem group and more of a straight "fuck you" to fairly anyone. The fact that they don't care either way what critics think of them and their now-and-again insulting of their fanbase goes to show that Tyler is in this for himself, with Earl and the rest of the gang tagging along and reaping the benefits. Touching on your last point, Earl and Frank Ocean may become the most commercially successful out of this, but that doens't mean that people won't forget the imprint Tyler left on the rap scene nor the few other rappers that could start making more waves in the underground such as Hodgy Beats, who really stepped up his game noticeably since Bastard, and Domo Genesis.

The only thing I wish this album had (besides less gimmicks, but for fuck's sake it's odd future) is more technical rapping from tyler. There's a lot of half ass rapping on here, and I know he's better than that. Lyrics/production are a huge step though.
Oh, and Domo on rusty is the best verse on the album. besides lucas.

Yeah I pretty much have no desire to listen to these guys anymore except for Earl. This isn't bad, but didn't really do anything for me.
