Yeah. You're only like 5 months younger than me Inveigh. I dig the title track a lot on this. Well... I really dig every track on this.

wait so Clutch is stoner rock?
I've always thought it was really misapplied to this band.
i mean, Electric Wizard, Sleep, BongZilla, Clutch. One of these does not sound like the others.

they're hard/stoner rock
and those bands are stoner metal
|

That's because the others are stoner metal.

Dare I say that this is the best Clutch record after just two and a half lessons? Holy shit, this is excellent. There's so much energy here, and the songwriting and riffs are better than ever. "Gone Cold" is fucking perfect, it reminds me so much of "Space Cadet" by Kyuss, which is one of my favorite songs... but somehow its not derivative at all. Might raise this to a five if it grows on me even more.

^That very hard!
I was skeptical when Tim Sult said it was going to be their best album. Now, with multiple spins I can see his point. This album absolutely destroys every heavy rock record released recently. Still, probably Robot Hive will remain my favorite, but here's another stoner rock classic from them. Besides, I needed to be better than Channing 4.7ing new Justin Timberlake.

Except the fact that Justin Timberlake's new album is actually worth a rating in that range and pretty much the entire site and beyond agrees.

Yeah, what makes this album a 5? It's fun and well done and there's a lot of creativity in it but I can't hear the classic.

Well. My ratings are totally subjective... When I literally can't stop listening to the album, it's a sign.
Btw, people on this site care about ratings way too much.

Alex, I love you but that was a ridiculous comment. Greg rates albums what he wants to rate, and that's how this site works. Should we strive for the median rating, or the RYM aggregate score?

Fuck it this is getting a five, EVERY song is outstanding and well done. It's full of energy and it achieves the band's purpose of rocking the fuck out better than anyone else could in 2013. That definitey warrants a 5 from me.

I have no idea if this will end up as a 5 for me.... My rule with rating albums as 5, is they have to either have a major influence on my music taste, or be interesting enough for me to still want listen to it every single day, even after a few months. I have a two month rule with albums where I will rerate them based on how I feel after two months, but if I ever give an album free, I will never actually lower it.
Yes, this is good, but I have no idea it will still be spinning it six years after I get it, like Robot Hive or Blast Tyrant.

I agree the record needs to pass the test of time to get a 5 from me too, but I'm predicting this one will do so with flying colors.
