I gave this a listen, it sounded really random and incredibly pretentious. And frankly quite boring.
What am I not getting.

How else would it be pretentious. It's music.

All the random transitions, chanting, and forcedly 'epic' lyrics sounded to me like the band was
trying to show a greater skill and uniqueness than they possessed.

You're not missing anything. Move on to something you dig, man.

Good album. Pretty much impossible for me to listen to this all together though, it's so tiring and it feels dragged out, but it has it's moments.

Think I'm gonna settle for a 3.5

vocals sucked on ATRU and they still suck here

which is a shame since the instrumentation and songwriting is so fucking good
