Pantera live back before they started headlining arena/larger shows was a sight to behold. Same can be said for most death metal bands of the time (though outside of the US not many of them went on to the same level of fame).

Had the chance a few times actually. 92 they opened for Skid Row, 93 (may have been Jan. 93) at the Sting in CT, 94 in Springfield, a few times after that in Hartford and NYC.
The pits at their shows were a ton of fun.
