that's the mystery cd, you're supposed to contact them.

They only made one copy but you win the prize. You're now the newest member to the band. congratulations.

I love Exoplanet a lot and I never expected to.

I think I started to really listen to ("new") Cynic way too late or a least too closely to this release for me to appreciate this for what it is. I've only heard this album twice, though so who knows. It always just leaves me wanting Traced in Air which, even though I only started listening to about two years ago, did this better in what- 2007-2008?

This definitely doesn't blow... but, it didn't blow me away either.

FLOURISH!

I haven't heard Traced in Air too much, but I can say that despite its influences this album's got some beautiful moments and some really shitty ones. If Traced in Air is like that too, WE KNOW THERE'S A CONNECTION!

I think this band loves the attention of the hardcore scene too much and their music suffers for it

This is a step back from Exoplanet. Although, I guess you could just consider this a Sophomore slump. Hopefully.

Spaceman, I think you think you're smarter than you are and you suffer from it.

What millisecond of this album gives you that assessment?

Or are you saying that about all of their work as a whole?

Just curious.

I Know I'm smarter then I am

but exoplanet was good because it was mainly deathcore and showed promise to a raped genre, whereas this seems to bring a dieing genre into a promising one. Every millisecond of growling and chugging that ruined a new ambient sound gave me this assesment

Alright.

I get what you mean about the first album.

But, we are on opposite ends with the new one.

this is hardfully a sophomore slump since it's NOTHING like their freshman album

"this is hardfully a sophomore slump since it's NOTHING like their freshman album"

Sophomore slump implies that the first album was great and that the second one isn't. Nothing to do with how similar they sound.
