man, listening to this for hte first time in forever and it still kicks ass. I love how lush yet sombre the production is. Butch Vig did some great production work in the early 90s.

Kurt was the apathetic, sarcastic fucker we all were. He wasn't prancing around in Spandex clapping his hands or faux rocked out. Last of the "mega rock stars" which obviously contributed to him blowing his head off but what a legend.

I really like the production on this album. It's not overproduced, it is clean and crisp and the mid-range is cut down so you can crank it and it never gets too sharp.

yeah, i especially love the drum sound, the toms and snares sound "poofy" (if ya know what i mean) but still organic and not synthesized or triggered

I agree with a lot of this review however I wouldn't say the album is "boring" as much as it is lazy. There are many moments of creativity and energy like you said on Breed but the songs are meandering, the production sucks, the music is pretty formulaic and the whole album is basically a one trick pony.
I've also never got the hype behind Lithium. One of my least favourite songs on the album, and besides Polly the only one I'll agree is boring.
