What happens when a vote for this review being well written just disappears? I just had 8 of 9 people that thought this review was well written, and it just went down to 7 of 8. Does that mean someone can take their vote back? Does an account get deleted? How does that work? I'm not being selfish for pos's or anything, just genuinely curious.

gave this a listen and its good but i dont think its better than "When The Pawn Hits", but im happy to see Fiona taking an intrest in music again.

Sounds amazing with the right pair of headphones and there is ALOT going on in these songs, to the point i kinda wished she did some more piano ballads.

@EyesWideShut Yeah, I personally think this and Extraordinary Machine are each equally on the same level as When the Pawn..., but I still think that When the Pawn... is her best album and I prefer it over the rest of her discography.

this should be on the front or best new music for sure.

@EyesWideShut Well, this review did already get featured on the home page the day I posted it, but I

really do agree that it should be under best new music. I'm not too sure how that works, but I think

it has to do with the number of votes and favorable reviews an album gets, and I think that then all

needs to equal an overall average of 4 or above. Maybe if this had some more

reviews...*cough*klap*cough*.

EyesWideShut: I'm a little confused. This album makes you wish Fiona did more piano ballads - understandable, but..here they are! Wish granted! She'd be a different beast if all she did were piano ballads; I personally love songs like "Red, Red, Red". Speaking of that, are you saying she didn't have an interest in music for 'Extraordinary Machine', because I quite like the whimsy of that album.

@Joplin

when i said "i wished she did more piano ballads" i meant more bluesy intimate songs like say "Shadowboxer, I Know, and Love Ridden. This album production wise has alot going on in the background, i wouldnt mind some minimalism.

When I said "its good to see her taking an intrest in music again" I meant with making albums again not saying she didnt care about Extraordinary Machine. Her taking so many years to drop a new one had me thinking she was over the whole music thing.

I like Fiona's first 2 albums. But since then, I feel she has lost her sense of direction. Lots of ideas that don't form a whole. I may enjoy this one less than Extraordinary Machine.

@mvdu I see what you're getting at, but I think that's a very minor and excusable

flaw that can be overlooked, and one that you have to dig a little for it to be

apparent in the music, and I really don't think it's anywhere remotely near a big

enough factor to completely kill this album enough to bring it down to average. I

think the sound of the music itself, and every other contributing aspect of this

album's greatness comes first before a minor flaw like that does.

Agree to disagree, then. When the ideas are so scattershot, I don't get a sense of melody. Melody is important to me.

The album is alo a bit jazzy for my taste, but that wasn't the main reason I lowered it.

@mvdu To be completely honest with you actually, I'm really not sensing any "scattershot" ideas. None on the surface for sure at least. I mean in terms of musicallity and themes this is pretty consistent. Every song is about love, the album has this jazz flow and piano vibe constantly running through it, I don't really get what you specifically mean by "ideas", because honestly there's not much difference between this and her first two albums, at least nothing easy to spot.

Not much to say when we view the album so differently. We'd just be arguing in circles.

I really don't get any kind of melody or strong song structure from this album. Her first 2 albums had those.

I don't understand why someone gave the review a neg, though. Review is well written. I know I don't like negs for my reviews, so I only neg now on troll reviews or really ridiculous ones.
