It sucks that the dude from Born of Osiris is wasting his talent with this band. From what I've heard of their music, it just sounds like a lot of breakdowns and mediocre vox so I'm sure he has a pretty big impact on the band, but still.

There is definitely better bands he could be in but, I still find this EP enjoyable. Sure it's not the best or most unique out there but, it's a fun EP that is listenable (for me). I'm generally not a fan of generic breakdowns, that being said, I really like the breakdown at the end of confession and I'm not sure why. The high pitched scream at the end just really adds a lot to it I guess. Most people hate Alex's vocals but, I for one love them. To me it sounds like there is a lot of emotion put into the vocals and the vocals really tie each song together where as other bands have a vocalist who can only do mids. Which just makes each song in those bands sound the same and it gets rather boring. Again, not saying Chelsea Grin is THE best band out there but, I enjoy them (not really sure why).
