I get more satisfaction listening to Still Life. Compositions are more polished. Hammill voice is convincing and he doesn't need to scream.

Theatrical of nature, he excells in all categories of range, and he uses them all in every albums, screamings included ;)

A good example of a "bad" singer that rules

Peter Hamill's voice is raw but can be very emotional. Still Life is their best, though, this comes close.

Your 5 is legit. If I had to 5 a VDGG album, it would be for Still Life.

I'll probably put it at a 4.5 because some bits (mainly The Sleepwalkers) kind of put me off, especially that little jazz lounge bit near the end and it feels a bit weak as a closer imo. But it's getting close to being a legit 5. As for Still Life, I haven't heard that one in a bit though it didn't really impress me the few times I've heard it.

Except for song ''My Room'', Still Life is perfect. I just re-listened to ''My Room'' and I could give it a 4, so I give the album a 5 right now. I invite you to revisit Still Life.

Haven't checked Still Life yet, does it have crazy ass moments like Arrow? or is it more calmed like Pawn Hearts?

Still Life songs are generally pretty mature and melodic and present a mostly ''quiet'' and well done symphonic prog (lots of organ). You have two more intense, explosive songs a la ''The Arrow'' if you will, called ''La Rossa'' and ''Childlike Faith in Childhood's End''. The best song on here is probably ''Pilgrims'' (after the first 2 minutes)

La Rossa is one sweet title for a song, will check it

It's surely a wink to Italy, cos Hammill particularly appreciates the Italian public (and mutually, Italians love Hammill).

Edit; Listen to Still Life in its entirety. If you have to skip one, skip ''My Room''(nice one but needs time).
