To be fair, aside from terrible lyrics, strained vocals, poor production, a freaky as hell album cover, average musicianship, and repetitive songs, this isn't a bad album.

Yeah, really. I mean, Atreyu's been around since 1998, so you'd think the vocals would have improved, right? I mean, I've been screaming for less than a year and this is what I sound like:

It's not the best quality, but I think it's substantially better than what Varkatzas does. And like I said, I've been at this for less than a year. So I think these guys can improve a bit.

Well, their drummer's actually not bad, with a few vocal lessons his cleans could sound really good. Bass (or whatever you can hear of it) is fine, guitars are average, screaming is terrible.



The main thing that irks me about this band is that they've shown very little improvement or even change over the years. Their newest album (Congregation of the Damned) was basically just this one all over again with slightly better lyrics (although not that much). Bands usually change as they go along, and some listeners may not like it, but at least original material is being put out, right?



No, this band just keeps releasing the same material over and over again, with a few exceptions in Lead Sails Paper Anchor. Disturbed has the same problem, but at least their guitar playing has improved.
