For me, what's so great about Genesis, is the originality of the music...and Ripples is one of my favourites.

Recently started getting into Genesis and immediately fell in love with this record. Besides not having Gabriel on vocals, I can't find a lot wrong with this. It creates an absolutely beautiful and surreal atmosphere.

Yup, and I think ''neck'' is usually exclusively expressed by KILL or sonic, isn't it?

Collins never does a false note when he plays live. We cannot say the same for Gabriel who sometimes loses his voice. But overall, and as JT once said, Gabriel has more character in his voice, plus he is more theatrical in his way of singing. Both singers are charismatic though. But to say that Collins is superior to Gabriel, I'd risk another neck :D

There are a lot of professional singers who try to imitate Gabriel's voice. It's not the case of Collins. Both are great and charismatic singers. Gabriel has more character, is more theatrical and is more risky. Singer-wise, Gabriel brought more to the Genesis table. And when Collins took the micro, he tried more or less to imitate Gabriel.
