i really like the shortening. fear before the march of flames was a silly early 2000s era band name from when everyone was trying to be irreverent as a reaction against overly serious hardcore/metal
and while i understand the irreverence, it doesnt change the fact that the band name was a mouthful

oh for sure. I've learnt to accept it and the change makes sense in hindsight. At the time I just liked how badass it sounded and shaking off the nostalgic vibes apparently takes a longer adjustment period than it perhaps should, lol
If I saw a modern band with a name like that now, I'd likely pass by them completely
