So, I love Christian music. When I say Christian music, I mean things like gospel and also artists like Hillsong, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe, Graham Kendrick, Elevation Worship, Darlene Zschech, Gateway Worship, Laura Story, Casting Crowns and more.
I am not a Christian (I am Hindu), but people assume I am Christian when I say I like this music. I don't understand how they make this assumption.
I listen to Christian music because many of the songs are about victory, hope, power, never giving up, love etc. I feel that this increases my self esteem and, along with medical intervention helps with my depression.
I do not thing that somebody being Christian if they like Christian music is a fair assumption to make. People who are not Christian look around churches on vacation, often because they are pretty, and no one finds that strange or odd, so why do people think it is odd when I listen to Christian music as a non Christian? Not everyone who listens to reggae is Jamaican either, and not everyone who listens to hip hop is black, so why make the assumption with Christian music?
Do you think this is a fair assumption to make? Would you make this assumption? Please explain any counterarguments you have to this so I can see why others may assume this.
