The vocals on Gemini Becoming the Tripod are some of the best I've ever heard. The way his singing just gets more and more intense just blows my mind every time.

yeah, but at times it's kinda too ambitious and annoying...
I simply can not fully appreciate Gemini and Amaranth the Peddler..
but sometimes I could and then it hits me hard, Gemini is sure not a bad or weak song, it's just fucking special... like stones october sobbing(LYBM), Amaranth The Peddler is in the second half kinda plain and going nowhere, I just don't get it(like I said in the upper post, The King Crimson-Moonshine Syndrom, not for everyone)

They're going to be recording the "Stained Glass" EP with the dude that recorded both this and COTE. Hopefully some nostalgia sets in and we get some real gems.

theres a lot of times on this album where there's nothing happening for 2-3 minutes at a time

yeah, usually the "nothing happening" parts are actually quite interesting. Probably the most interesting part of this album is just after the solo in ___On Limpid Form and before the dissonance, where the trumpets do the slides. That's crazy and not easy to play, at least not at that pitch.
Then again I don't always think this album succeeds at what it's trying to do.

agreed.
and I was more talking about where it goes to complete silence for several minutes.

This is why categorization of music bothers me so much. Kayo Dot is one of my absolute favorites, but the idea of calling them a "metal band" I think is very confining and not even close to accurate. Sure, they have metal-y parts, because at that given time it was what the music called for. But there are far more moments in their music that have no aspects of metal at all. In fact, the reason Toby Driver changed the name of his project from Maudlin of the Well to Kayo Dot was to escape the metal reputation they had inadvertently made for themselves.

I honestly don't know why I like this so much. I listen to it and I think WTF but at the same time I enjoy the hell out of the ocean of noises.

i think some bits are out of place here so it's a small notch below Choirs of the Eye for me, but still fantastic
