Really good review here. Sums up really well why I like Some Nights.

one sentence:
"Yes, that band was a revelation, a subversive, witty act that masked some seriously soul-crushing lyrical content with shimmering, sun-kissed pop melodies; 2006′s Dog Problems remains one of the decade’s unsung classics, a stunning breakup record that revisits the old Elvis Costello bait-n’-switch with some of the most deceptively effervescent hooks ever caught on wax obscuring the insecure, acerbic, bitter lyrical remains of a toxic relationship, as if Adele had eviscerated that scummy ex of hers with some harmonic Brian Wilson beach-blanket-pop instead of with torchy ballads and stomping blues. "
i agree with knott.
also, I still bet this is average to bad, but I probably won't hear it for a while

I know, longest sentence ever but the content I agree with.

I skip 'It Gets Better', 'All Alright', 'One Foot' and 'Stars' every time. Especially Stars...god I that track is awful.
The other songs are awesome, though!

I think 'Stars' is my second favourite. I don't get why 'Out on The Town' is a bonus track. It's good enough to be on the album! Not sure why it's just an extra.

^This. The track is one of the highlights in fact.

I think they messed up there. Would have sat nicely between 'Carry On' and 'It Gets Better' I think.

I think "Out On The Town" should be the actual closer.

"Carry On" would have made a good closer, too, I reckon. But yeah, I too don't understand why "Out On The Town" is a bonus track.

That was awful writing (that link that was posted). Basically the thing Aids quotes is lol

After some time to consider, this is quite the step down from their debut but still a lot of fun

Yeah I realized that as I said it. Just worked too well to say it any other way...

love the album cover will check this out

I like this more than Aim and Ignite, but the longer it goes on the more it rubs me the wrong way. Listening to "It Gets Better", and god, all this nasty autotune makes me feel like I'm listening to Hot Chelle Rae

Comparing this to Hot Chelle Rae? Get out. Out. Now.
|
| |
Vocoder =/= autotune
|
| |
It's not whether it's called autotune or vocoder, but rather if it sounds good or shitty
There are instances here where it sounds cool, but otherwise it feels pretty unnecessary.

This album gets a big 'Eh.' from me; I'm quite disappointed with Some Nights. It can not hold a candle to Aim & Ignite either, in my opinion.
Some Nights Intro is probably the best song on this album though; it's everything I was hoping for from a new fun. album. As the album progressed, it got more and more artificial and junky-sounding. I've always generally loved Nate's song-writing, however.
My favorite song: Some Nights Intro
My least favorite song: It Gets Better
