I just like keeping track; I felt mentioning how big of a fan I as of the band would give a better understanding of how difficult it was to seperate objectivity and subjectivity, and to perhaps give any explanation if I were to fail at doing so.

Meh, I saw them open for Dragonforce and they were literally booed off the stage.
Their singer tried some of the most painful shrieks I've ever heard. This Message Edited On 05.28.06

Yeah, Rody's been having some voice trouble lately; that tour was murked with technical problems, they werent ready for such constant touring.

Hahhahahaha. Dragonforce fans. That means that a bunch of awkward 18 year olds obsessed with cheesy technicality booed off a bunch of awkward 18 year olds obsessed with cheesy technicality. It's like watching the cripple fight episode of South Park but for seriouses.

I still think Rody has a punk-influenced voice, he sounds nothing like the guy from Yes or James Labrie and doesnt attempt to use his vocal dynamics in that manner either, even if they were influences. And I still think that the style of their music (guitars mostly) can be best described as metalcore. None of that is negative, I like it a lot. And the bass definitely draws my attention on this album. Call me crazy but I think its audible, and hes a great bassist, Ive never seen them live and i can tell you that just by listening.

I think Rody has a massively metal influenced voice that eats of the plate of Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, and Europe.

Well it's been contraversial. It belongs under metalcore no matter what Co&Cru says.

It doesnt belong under metalcore.

Just the fact it's debated makes it all the more evident why I initially classified it as "Metal".

He's a better bassist live, where you can properly hear and see what he's doing.

I've only heard one song. The guitar riffs sounded completely unoriginal. Vocals were alright, but not that good.

The fact that it's debated makes it a more fitting candidate for a genre that represents a more diverse range of influences (metal and hardcore) versus one with a more narrow range (metal), that is, unless you're tring to claim it falls under the broadest sense of metal. Still though, can't it also be considered to be hardcore in a similarly broad sense?

For a good laugh look at the tabs of their posted on mxtabs. It's looks like dumbed down Dragonforce though I have yet to check to see how accurate the tabs are.

Usually I'm tempted to kick such discussion that only goes in circles over and ver again, but in a way it's too hilarous to just kick it

Also, I feel that both sides can actually articulate themselves, which is more than I can say for some of the arguments in the Silverstein reviews.

nah, you can't knock the hustle on the debate for this album.

Besides we all know whose right anyways.

I meant putting it under "Metal" as then fans of Metalcore, Thrash, Death, Black and Power would see the review, since we're on a debate of the specific classification. I fail to see how Metal isn't as broad as Metalcore when Metalcore is seemingly a sub-genre of Metal. If the genre of Metal has several sub-genres, and we cannot decide where this album would be placed within said sub-genres, the reason to simply place it under the generic classification of Metal should seem obvious, at least it does to me.

But it's not punk, at all. Yes, their EP was a punk release, but this is not Punk at all and it's their full length.

There's some hardcore influenced, but the guys are more influenced by Iron Maiden, Into Eternity and Between the Buried and Me (I realize they can be considered metalcore) than anything punk. Their only real punk influence on this album is Propagandhi, and even that wears thin compared to their EP.
