i thought their self-titled album was brilliant. to me it was an indication that a sober, stable max bemis could still write song of volatile emotional depth. i mean the first time i heard them declare they had the potential to be the greatest band in the world in "do better" i was like fucking fuckity fuck yes.

now it's just like what, where did that spark go

this

all of this

"Now you pass your pestilence on to your riddled and addled children."

Seems sort of ironic and lacking in empathy, coming from a man who so publicly and infamously battled with bi-polar disorder, no?

Although, I do agree that ADD and ADHD are extremely over-diagnosed. But I digress.

Is the album even officially out yet? With SOPA, and PIPA threatening, with other BS bills looming, with megaupload succumbing to the Feds I am fairly convinced my p2p file sharing days are over, not that I ever tried to torrent albums of bands that I love anyway. So unless you guys want to start up some sort of donation service for me to purchase this album, it looks like its back to the old days of not being able to listen to an album unless I can afford to buy it. What else can I do?

I've heard the first single, "Burn A Miracle" and I love it. Max rips it up in the song and unless the album is drastically different from that song I can't see how I won't love this album. Be sure once I do hear the album I will be posting my reaction ASAP.

Say Anything is my favorite band. ...Is A Real Boy is probably my favorite album.

I'm not sure if I've ever been more disappointed by an album release, and it's not even because the album is bad. It's because I know what Max is capable of, and this isn't even close to it. It's so painful to watch him try and imitate the person he used to be.

Say Anything was always the most painfully honest, and wholly sincere band I had ever listened to. Without the sincerity, what is Say Anything?

I hate how in the span of a year both Dredg and Say Anything release clunkers. Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy was excruciatingly bad, but this album is so much more disappointing to me. Max Bemis trolled us all with his declaration that this would be reminiscent of IARB. I'd rather the band have progressed from their self-titled than create an over-produced rehashed version of their classic album.

Maybe if you guys actually paid for the music you bitch and complain about instead of getting it for absolutely free and still bitching and complaining it then I might respect your opinions. But you don't, and I don't either.

"Maybe if you guys actually paid for the music (A) you bitch and complain about instead of getting it for absolutely free and still bitching and complaining it then I might respect your opinions (B)"

how does A relate to B

this album sounds hilariously bad. I never liked ...Is a Real Boy much (preferred In Defense of a Genre) so I'd probably hate this

I disagree. If I payed for it I would spend more time trying to pick out the good instead of the bad.

It legitimizes your opinion, and unlike any of those major publications, Sputnik is neither major nor a publication. It's a fairly unknown Internet website. No one is paying for a subscription to be a user on Sputnik. Also unlike a major publication, this site is full of users who download the music way before street dates, for absolutely FREE, NOTHING, and then bitch, complain and piss about something you don't pay for and then act like your little shitty opinion is truth.

If you can't figure out how respect results from earning it then you are a tool. Although we already knew that, didn't we.
