Xeno, I can get why his statement is oftputting, but your statement doesnt make sense because this is his least distraught album and his older stuff is legit.

Let me first say, VERY well written review. Excessive use of brackets is a bad habit, but otherwise perfectly worded and expressed.
I've been a Mac Lethal fan for roughly as long, and I have to agree, you're spot on about 'The Parlour'. Even though it suffers from that particular kind of 'EnglishPeopleSoundLikeACrossBetweenOliverTwistAndTheQueenItis Guvna' which I detest, the song is far-and-away the best track on album and is infused with that Mac-Lethal brand vitriolic, rage which is so mind-consumingly raw that listening to it in the morning can give you insomnia twelve hours later.
It is also true that, for the most part, this album doesn't have a shotgun pointed at the radio and fosters the illusion that for once in his life, perhaps, things are looking up for Ol' Rasputin.
This is, for me, you and many of his fans, Mac's big draw and this is why I'm in two minds about a 4.0 review score. By this logic, Irish Goodbye absolutely isn't Mac's best album- you want NKBBQ or The Origional 11:11 for that. But hold up; in terms of backing-tracks, rapping and cutting, this might just me Mac's best album to date. The backing tracks for Slut and Black Rainbow are innovative, intelligent and haunting, while the rapping on Old Rasputin is absolutely sick. Many hop-hop albums scoring 4.5 on Sputnik don't come close to this level of ingenuity or technical flair, so something about giving the album a still-respectable four seems a little off.
It could be that Mac has shot himself in the foot. His vitriol and his fire so define him that although other aspects of the album shine, it's impossible to look past that one glaring omission.
Give the album another listen and tell me what you think.
This aside, what really worries me is that Mac's hard-won grasp on approaching triumph may be untenable. There certainly is a market for therapeutic gangster rap, but I'm not at all sure that it's a big one.

Epic post man. You're either Mac himself or a monstrous fan. Thanks for the compliments.

Hans you're gonna make contrib this year or there will be casualties among the staffers
