Yeah, maybe another listen might help me overcome it.

Yeah Alabama Song is also one of my favorites from this one. This kind of songs are expected from Morrison even though it's a cover I think.

"hard to say any song in the history of music surpasses the end in terms of sheer greatness"

Damn straight. I liked the song a lot at first, but Apocalypse Now really helped put the song into perspective. Genius.

Honestly, these guys might make my Top 10 one day. Top 20 at least.

Prob my fave 60's band, although the Stones exist.

This album easily made it into my top 20, but yeah I can potentially see them in my top 10. And I cant think of any 60s band I like more than The Doors.

I easily prefer The Doors over the Stones. Not that they're bad but they just don't evoke the same feels as The Doors.

The Stones' best albums are consistently 4s for me. Gimme Shelter/Jumpin' Jack Flash are perfect rock songs but the albums never quite hold up like Beatles/Who/etc records. or this bad boy.

'67 was incredible. bands were dropping two classics in one year

^Exactly. The Rolling Stones sound a bit basic to me. They very rarely went the extra mile like the guys you mentioned, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix Experience and others.

I need to jam the Stones a bit more before I can comment on that, but that's a reasonable argument mano.

not that this should be a stick to beat them with but they never seemed as comfortable with the psychedelic movement either. Their Satanic Majesties Request is a pretty mixed bag.

only got Disraeli Gears from Cream but yeah agreed

As much as I love Disraeli Gears I agree as The Doors is one of my all time favorite bands. Cream were awesome though and quite heavy for the time.

Haven't heard Fresh Cream or WoF tho, but I get the feeling that songwriting wasn't one of Cream's strong suits. It certainly was one for The Doors.

They were excellent songwriters but not on The Doors' level imo. The Doors were very special on that department.
