Well, I think I'm used to so many crappy singers that I wasn't really annoyed by Corgan's voice.
I just love this album...I kind of wish it was remastered...the "wall of noise" can be overbearing at times, and I think a more modern, clean production could do wonders...of course, some would argue that it would take away the "edge" from the album.
But this is definitely SP's strongest set of material on an album...Mellon Collie has its moments, but it's bloated and about half the album is just plain weak...needless to say, if it was released on one disc, it would be better for it (though it probably wouldn't "flow" too well...).
For some reason, I still think Billy has it in him to write another great album...I know his material has gotten weaker and weaker over time...but I can't imagine him making another album as bland and stale as Zeitgeist again...and I hope he can quit it with the sophomoric poetry...you're not in high school anymore, Billy.

album's good but idk it's inconsistent; there's too many slow tracks close to each other, especially towards the end. some really good songs here tho. This Message Edited On 08.09.08

Yeah nowheres near as good as Mellon Collie or even as good as Machina but it does have pretty much all amazing songs on here.

this is a really good review. the only probably i had was when you would say " throw one off" or " surprise one". I do that a lot. it's a bad habit, but maybe it's just me.

Yeah, pablo honey is good Siamese dream is on a whole other level. I always thought it was crazy how Today, Disarm, and Cherub Rock sound totally different than the other songs. Mayonaise might be my favorite sp song of all time.

Mellon Collie is better and more listenable in my opinion.
Mellon Collie is very VERY inconsistent, and the tracks don't have anywhere near the coherency as on Siamese Dream. The songs here have more of a similar feel to it,(without being repetitive) while also having unique feels to each song. Mellon Collie kinda mashes together "loud" songs and "quiet" songs on the two discs without any sense of together-ness, even if Mellon Collie does have some terrific songs within the 28 of them.
EDIT: I sound a lot like Dfelon^

This, but also that Corgan was going to make it far more connected but wasn't able to do so due to time constraints. Because of that, there seems to be fluid connection between the tracks.

Great review, love this album. The pumpkins at their best in my opinion. Especialy Billy with his schoolboy haircut! Classic. I would have to disagree with silverfuck being the weak point. For me that would have to be Today. Don't know why, everyone else seems to love it, but it never really did anything for me.

today and disarm are awesome even though they're the most different on the album. everything else on the album is straight fuzz bliss.
