Come on man Eleventh Hour goes super hard and even Point Of View takes a massive dump on everything off of Empire

Queensryche will always be my favorite progressive metal band.....up to and including Promised Land at least......the music is just superior for me

was just messing with you... it's been a while since I listened to Empire and to me it always palled compared to Mindcrime so I usually go towards that one or Rage for Order or even Promised Land when I want to listen to Queensryche... but yeah Empire is fucking important for prog metal there's no denying

Fates became the better band from the mid to late 90's onward, once they released A Pleasant Shade, which also happens to be my favorite of theirs out of the Alder era.

Empire also has that commercially influenced sound which turned some fans off, but that never bothered me. Jet City Woman, Della Brown, Another Rainy Night, t/t, Silent Lucidity, and Anybody Listening? are all really solid jams.

I have the new album. First listen.... Arch/Matheos meets Darkness in a Different Light meets Parallels, but with heavier parts than any of those albums.

I know that's a vague description, really, but it will take a few more listens to get it down more than that.

I must have missed the whole Queensryche vs. Fates Warning discussion. I would have to say that through Promised Land, Queensryche was the better band.

Yeah. First 5 Queensrÿche LPs and the s/t EP are definitely a step above FW's discography.

Yep. Awaken the Guardian and Perfect Symmetry are really good, but not when directly listened to after Rage For Order, Mindcrime, or even Empire. There's an obvious jump in quality.
