Cool. Yeah like I said, I like it (obviously since I 3.5’d it) but I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed. There’s just not much that’s very interesting here, but the melodies are solid and you can feel the passion/emotion in Gibbard’s voice.
I did hear a few songs off Transatlanticism, the t/t being one, and they were all at least 4s (t/t a definite 5 and still the best song I’ve heard by these guys).
Re The Stability EP, damn. I bought the CD and plan to spin it after Photo Album (that’s the correct sequence, right?). Love that one of the songs is like 12 mins or something. I looooove long, epic songs.

Hah, not to spoil but the Stability t/t isn’t that kind of 12 minute song, basically it’s a 3 minute song (a different version of which is actually used as the closer for Plans) followed by a 9 minute repetitive outro, but it’s still a beaut and a 5/5 personally but you have to really be in the mood for it.

Ahh sounds sorta like another Goodbye Sky Harbor (which I absolutely fucking love).

Haven't heard that song but sampled some parts of it and yeah I think you get the idea.
I think you'd best move on from this for now - like I said I was underwhelmed by it for a long time too even as a big fan of the band. Death Cab are never showy but once their songs get under your skin they're indelible, the music may not seem interesting but there's a lot of subtle craft here.

The part where "Title Track" goes from lo-fi to hi-fi is one of my favorite moments in music.

The fact that this album has a track called "Lowell, MA" necessitates me to check it

And it's a great song too, if still one of my least favorites here. This is an essential, def get on it.

Plans will always be my fav and Transatlantacism is second, but this is firmly in third. The Photo Album is amazing too. The debut, Narrow Stairs and Asphalt Meadows all rule too and are underrated.
