the one that recently came out isn't on youtube i don't think, but it's on one of the bonus discs & quite a change from this original band demo

The first six tracks here are stellar, the rest is pretty patchy.

I don't like it that much, but for me there's worse here, like Blue Skies Bring Tears.

Honestly The Everlasting Gaze and Age of Innocence are the only salvageable songs on here for me.

Not even Stand Inside Your Love? That's easily the best song here, and one of the best Billy's written imo.

Damn, no love for Blue Skies Bring Tears? I think that's one of the strongest on this record.

I often find the missteps of bands more fascinating their their triumphs and this certainly is the case for the original iteration of the Smashing Pumpkins. Machina has some great songs, but like many albums of the 90s, it runs on entirely too long. So many artists felt like they had to jam pack every album with 70+ minutes of music just because that was how much a CD could hold. It lead to a lot of bloated albums that seem to go on for eternity. With some proper trimming this album and the individual songs could have had a much larger impact. Add to that the fact that many of the songs are so over produced that it totally kills anything musically interesting they had going on in them. Most Pumpkins fans didn't like Corgan's turn from alternative-dream rock hero to proto-metal martyr, but I still come back to this album more than any other Pumpkins album even if I have to skip around a bit.

Top songs: Stand Inside Your Love, Age of Innocence, Raindrops + Sunshowers, I of the Mourning
