Great review, this is a great album that gets better the more you listen to it

@Julian, even if it seems that way, I'll say this: CDC is a more technical album. The guitars are a lot more based on the technicality and flashiness (not saying thats bad though, people here know that I love everything techy and flashy), while this is more based on clean sections and big open melodies. Maybe you think that, because, quite simply, they've gotten even better at writing riffs on here, but seem to focus more on airy melodies and big open chords rather than the old tight sound, for the most part. Again, of course its still STS so its still got those solos, but this time there's less sweeping and craziness, but it actually works out for the better. I see what you're saying though

@kingjulian, yes i think their debut is better for the time being, but as the more i listen to the new one, i think it will surpass the debut for me. i just cant enough of wolves on that album the last 1:30 is awesome.
agreed that the production of the debut is a little iffy, but i don't really mind it.

best song on debut has got to be Crossing the Ocean.
saw these guys live too, very tight

Very boring. Every single riff sounds recycled. Don't understand the rating.

I would like to point out how unoriginal these guys are. Some parts feel like they took the best parts off Death's Sound of Perseverance and slowed them down and then tried to cover up their horrible Chuck Schuldiner aping with a few progressive (and barely jazz) sections. I almost feel as if half of you haven't even delved into the instrumental metal genre because of the ratings and general masturbatory bullshit that surrounds a ton of irrelevant albums on this site (who knows for what reason). I'm not harping on anyone for liking this because I probably would have shit my pants for this five years ago. Let's face it though, albums like this are good at disguising themselves as something genuine. Also, first to call Prosthetic Records starting a trend with signing a slew of instrumental metal bands.

God damn is this album good

And Wizard, you are entitled to your opinion, but is it really fair to say they're unoriginal because they were influenced by a great band? Honestly I heard more of a Cynic influence on this in regards to their guitar tuning, but I hardly heard a downright plagiarized sound on here.
