eh was hyped for some not-yet-discovered swedish melodeath from the 90s, but this only has 1 gear and melds all together unfortunately. also heavily draws influence from StS which I to be the weakest "classic" album from the scene. idk, it is high energy and riffs kinda hard, so I'll give it that.

It is fairly monotonous which is like the one real negative thing I can say about this.

Yeah somehow this is even more one-dimensional than SotS but still better. It's cool that they're active and playing, so many old-school Swedish metal bands reuniting makes my heart happy : )

Nah we just discovered that TRITSIO is far superior lol. SoTS is just too repetitive and gets old fast.

“Didn't you have it at like 4.5 or am I tripping”

Nah I used to have it at like a 4 or so but it grew off on me for a multitude of reasons, most notably after getting more into the Alf-era albums. Alf’s style of playing is just way more interesting than the guitar work on SOTS (and most of what came after With Fear in general. Terminal Spirit Disease is still good tho).

album really doesn't repeat itself at all in my memory, though I haven't jammed it in years as its grown stale for me lol. would 100% rather jam any Gates of Ishtar record

I just start getting a bit bored after the first half. I actually wish I dug it more, but Red is just so much more interesting and engaging. I'd listen to it every day of the week ahead of SOTS
