I think Everybody Hurts is a great song but I'm never in the mood to listen to it. Which is probably a good thing given how harrowing it is.

yeah, it's strange 'Everybody Hurts' has become the 'skip track' on Automatic for me now - the darkness is brought in more palatable form by 'Sweetness Follows', don't get tired of that one. 'I'll spin it every now and then, it's still a classic and very '90s.

'The Great Beyond' is the most Michael Stipe song of the lot - no one else could sell you that song like him, all his greatest strengths as 'established vocalist and lyricist' there. The early stuff obviously doesn't play exactly the same game vocally, but Stipe the 'rockstar' that's definitely the best

nightswimming is my fav rem song. even w the most minimal of ingredients they j weave everything together so beautifully there. everybody hurts is prob my least fav off automatic but automatic is becoming arguably my favorite album ever so its got a high bar to compete against

it used to be my favourite from 'Automatic' but then I really fell for 'Find the River' and it slipped down - I mean it's still another near enough perfect song on a top 50 all time album

too late, the damage is dun and my two brain cells cannot undo the comparison. How dare R.E.M. blatantly plagiarize the ultimate prog masters

on a serious note, starting a full R.E.M. discog run and this kicking off just as strong, if not better than Reckoning
