New album got me binging these guys. It always stood out to me how personal this album is compared to their follow ups, but I guess songs about abusive households and teenage angst wouldn't sell well lol. But yeah massively underrated and has such a unique atmosphere. Roland's an underrated lyricst and he makes angst sound so poetic on this album

Yeah the new album got me fucked up. How the hell is it so good? I was *this* close to just skipping it altogether

"I did not know they originally did Mad World

Yea I had the same reaction lol, but this version is much better imo

I do enjoy the somberness of the cover and appreciate how they didn't just do exactly what the original did, but I am thinking I enjoy TfF version more, too

Change jumped out to me on first listen here, but everything was quite good

The fact that Gary Jules completely ruined Mad World and then his version became the most popular is a crime against humanity. It's almost as bad as Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence
|
| |
nah its nowhere near as bad as that one

yes it is both robbed the original completely of its charm turning it into a completely generic "look ma how sad" song
|
| |
its bad but disturbed are just worse

Well that's what I said

this album is one of the reasons why I still love early to mid 80s (1984) pop music, especially the new wave & synthpop era. I love that 1983 /1984 sound and that will never change. I even love an album like She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper because of that. Makes me want to travel back and experience those 2 years.

Opening scene of Marty Supreme featuring Change had me groovin' in my seat man, forgot how funky that song is and how utterly great this band was. Still remember being a senior in high school listening to this for the first time on my iPod, ripping one hitters in the gym bathroom and having my mind blown by the sonic soundscapes and raw emotion this album lays on ya.
Man this was a truly unique band.
