Austin Texas Mental Hospital is the greatest drone song I've heard... yet.

I think I like this better than their 2007 album. I didn't know ambient could get to this level.

I think there's something more "basic" and maybe glossy or at least accessible, almost poppy, about Refinement--although it's not like this one ain't easy on the ears either--but I still prefer it (Refinement)

I can see that. Would it be fair to say Refinement is their Dark Side & Tired Sounds is their Wish You Were Here? Tired Sounds, I guess. seems more focused. It's hard to tell rn though. I've only listened to each album 2-3 times, & for 2-hour albums there's a lot to process.

2nd for Radio Amor, would also recommend Haunt Me by Hecker, Gas - Pop which is another ambient classic

Well said, you should like, review music or something. But yes, IMO Refinement sounds more cinematic and produced (though the organic instrumentation contrasts it so it works well). Whereas Tired Sounds has a more personal vibe to it, tracks like Broken Harbors, The Lonely People, A Love Song For Cubs are all deeply introspective to me.

IMO Refinement is more cohesive at times but Tired Sounds is more cohesive as a whole. Personally Refinement Disc 2 starts to deviate from any sort of main thread for me, especially the last half of it.

I totally see the truth in that.
